Chairman — East Africa Community Ostomy Association (EACOA)
Director — Ostomy Association of Uganda
Dr. Alex Mushabe is a passionate advocate for people living with ostomies in East Africa and a dedicated leader in community health and patient rights. He currently serves as the Chairman of the East Africa Community Ostomy Association (EACOA) and the Director of the Ostomy Association of Uganda.
His advocacy journey began after encountering many people living with stomas who were struggling on the streets without support, awareness, or access to essential ostomy appliances. Deeply moved by their situation, Dr. Mushabe committed his life to advocating for dignity, healthcare access, and social inclusion for ostomy patients.
Through his leadership, the East Africa Community Ostomy Association (EACOA) was established as a non-governmental organization to support, empower, and advocate for people living with ostomies across the East African region. The organization works to promote awareness, defend patient rights, and improve access to ostomy appliances and medical support services.
Dr. Mushabe continues to work with partners, health institutions, governments, and communities to build a stronger support system for ostomy patients. His mission is to restore hope, promote dignity, and ensure that no person living with a stoma is left behind.
"Let's work together to give hope to the hopeless and become a voice to the voiceless."
